This module will facilitate the learner to understand the principles of palliative care while understanding the role of the care worker in promoting such issues as life quality, self-esteem, respect, privacy and dignity in palliative care work. The learner will understand the structure and organisation of palliative care to include the role of the multidisciplinary team and family structures in the provision of care for a terminally ill person. This module may be completed as a standalone component or as part of a suite of four modules comprising Care Skills, Care Support, Palliative Care and Infection Prevention and Control. This suite of 4 courses runs for the academic year.
